About the Unit
The Balıkesir University Press and Public Relations
Directorate carries out the institution's press and public relations activities
with the primary focus on "the university's corporate reputation and brand
value."
Purpose of Establishing the BAÜN Press and Public Relations
Directorate
The purpose of establishing the BAÜN Press and Public
Relations Directorate is to create an established and sustainable
"Balıkesir University image" in the eyes of its target audience.
Target Audience of the BAÜN Press and Public Relations
Directorate
The internal target audience of the BAÜN Press and Public
Relations Directorate consists of academic and administrative staff and
Balıkesir University students. The external target audience of the unit
includes all students who may choose Balıkesir University in the future for
their education planning, student parents, educational institutions, civil
society organizations, public institutions, press organizations, citizens
living in Balıkesir, and the entire Turkish society.
Working Principles of the BAÜN Press and Public Relations
Directorate
In all the work carried out by the BAÜN Press and Public
Relations Directorate; The fundamental principle is "prioritizing the
institutional reputation and brand value of the university."
The primary goal of the BAÜN Press and Public Relations
Directorate in its internal activities is to instill a sense of "being a
BAÜN student" and "belonging." The goal guiding external
activities is to establish sustainable communication with local and national
press organizations and stakeholder institutions/organizations, and to carry
out corporate communication activities that will strengthen the positive image
of Balıkesir University for prospective students.
**PRESS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS UNIT OPERATING PRINCIPLES**
These operating principles define the aims, duties, and
operational procedures of the Press and Public Relations Unit, which operates
within the Balıkesir University Rectorate in accordance with the Rectorate's
aims and principles. A- Objectives of the Press and Public Relations Unit
1) To contribute to the formation of an established and
sustainable "Balıkesir University image" in line with the
university's mission, vision, and core values,
2) To conduct effective communication to effectively inform
target audiences about the university's core values, academic quality,
scientific infrastructure, and educational opportunities,
3) To contribute to efforts that will enhance the
university's reputation in national and international arenas.
B- Duties of the Press and Public Relations Unit
The Press and Public Relations Unit carries out the
following tasks in order to achieve the main objectives mentioned above:
1) Conducting corporate communication activities, including
the management of relevant sections of the university's official website (News,
Banner-Slider) and official social media accounts,
2) Ensuring communication coordination between the
university and press organizations,
3) Planning and producing digital content for the
university's official social media accounts,
4) Preparing newsworthy events of the Rectorate for the
press/publication by organizing them in news format,
5) Ensuring the creation and implementation of corporate
identity standards.
C- Sub-Units of the Press and Public Relations Unit
The Press and Public Relations Unit operates with 5
sub-working units under the coordination of the Unit Head. New sub-units may be
created with the approval of the Rectorate when necessary.
These sub-units and their main tasks are as follows:
1) Press and Publications Unit
a) Writing news texts and press releases related to the
university,
b) Publishing university news on the official website and
social media platforms, and sharing it with media organizations,
c) Compiling, checking, and publishing the content of the
BAÜN News Magazine.
2) Public Relations and Promotion Unit
a) Planning and managing the university's relations with its
target audiences,
b) Supporting promotional strategies that strengthen the
university's corporate reputation,
c) Providing support for the university's promotional
activities.
3) Social Media Unit
a) Producing photo and video content for the university's
social media accounts,
b) Managing the university's official website and social
media platforms,
c) Strengthening the interaction of social media accounts to
ensure their effectiveness.
4) Graphic Design and Web Unit
a) To design materials such as posters, brochures, catalogs,
and invitations to meet the visual communication needs of the Rectorate and the
Rector's office,
b) To produce original graphic content to be used on the
university's official website and social media platforms,
c) To prepare promotional materials and digital visuals for
the university.
5) Science Communication Office Unit
a) To convey scientific research and studies at the
university to target audiences in an understandable, accessible, and engaging
manner,
b) To present scientific studies visually, audibly, and digitally.
